Dedicated to Tennessee's Children's Hospitals
Founded in 2004, the Children’s Hospital Alliance of Tennessee (CHAT) is an advocacy organization dedicated to advancing the quality of care for all children in Tennessee. Our member hospitals include: Le Bonheur Children's Hospital (Memphis), Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt (Nashville), Children's Hospital at Erlanger (Chattanooga), East Tennessee Children’s Hospital (Knoxville), and Niswonger Children’s Hospital (Tri-Cities).
CHAT’s mission is to ensure Tennessee has the best supported nonprofit comprehensive children’s hospitals in the country to provide quality healthcare for our state's children. The dedicated pediatric healthcare heroes working across CHAT member hospitals bring committed hands, sharp minds, and compassionate hearts to care for sick children and bring hope to families.
From Mountain City to Memphis, we are working together for the health of Tennessee’s kids.

Ensuring All Children Can Access Comprehensive Care
Parents, pediatricians and policy makers work hard to keep kids healthy.
But if your child becomes sick or injured we want to be sure that Tennessee has the best supported children's hospitals in the nation to provide care only found in comprehensive children's hospitals.
Comprehensive children's hospitals have pediatricians who are highly specialized and who focus solely on providing care, including the most complex care, to children. Our hospitals treat the most challenging pediatric cases and also support the ongoing care of children with long term disabilities.
Advocating for the Best Care for Tennessee's Children
We believe that the highest quality specialized care for children occurs at our state’s children’s hospitals and we believe that Tennessee can have the best supported children’s hospitals in the nation. That means we advocate for funding and resources to serve children at critical moments in their lives – from the NICU, to the emergency room, to treating pediatric cancer and other rare childhood diseases.

Collaborating to Improve Outcomes
CHAT member hospitals are joined by St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to form the Tennessee Quality and Safety Collaborative. Our goal is to improve the quality of care and eliminate serious harm. The collaborative comprises quality, nursing, and physician representatives from across the state and operates within the nationally recognized Solutions for Patient Safety.
Improving Health and Avoiding Hospitalizations
Finally, while we want to have the best hospitals to serve Tennessee’s children at every stage of life, we never want to see your child hospitalized. That means we support public health efforts aimed at helping parents and caregivers have access to resources and education to create healthier outcomes for kids.
It means that we collaborate with stakeholders advancing programs to prevent illness, injuries, and accidents - with the goal of avoiding hospitalization.
